Before you book a container
- Walk the property first, even briefly, to get a rough sense of scope — a single-story home with a light garage is a very different job than one with a full attic, basement and shed.
- Set aside anything going to family, donation or sale before the dumpster arrives — it's much easier to sort that way than to pull things back out later.
- Note anything hazardous up front — old paint cans, propane tanks, chemicals — since those need a separate disposal path, not the dumpster.

What fills up faster than people expect
Furniture and boxed belongings are bulky but light, so they fill volume fast without much weight. Old appliances, books, and anything stored in a basement or garage for decades tend to be heavier and denser than they look — factor that in when describing the job on the phone.

Estate cleanouts rarely run on a tight schedule the way a contractor's job does. Our standard seven-day rental is usually enough, but if you need a few extra days to work through things at your own pace, just say so — we'd rather extend the rental than have a family rush through a hard week.
