New Construction Cleanup Guide

New single-family and light-commercial construction has been a steady, growing part of what we deliver, especially in the corridor spanning Maugansville and out toward Williamsport near I-81. A new build almost never needs just one container — here's how we help contractors and owner-builders plan it out.

Framing and early-phase debris

Packaging, framing offcuts, and general job-site debris pile up fast in the early phases of a build. A 20 or 30 yard is typical here, sized to the pace of the crew and how often you want a swap.

Mid-build: drywall and finish debris

Drywall scraps, flooring cutoffs and finish-material packaging are bulky and light — they fill a container's volume fast without coming close to the weight allowance, which is the opposite problem from a demolition load. A 30 yard is usually the right call here too.

Concrete and footing debris: a separate, dedicated load

Poured footings, block debris and excavated fill dirt need their own dedicated container — usually a 10 or 15 yard — since this material is extremely heavy relative to its volume and will hit a weight allowance in a smaller box than you'd expect. Keeping it separate from mixed job-site debris also lets it go to a recycler rather than the landfill.

Punch-list and close-out

At the tail end of a build, a final smaller load of trim, packaging and miscellaneous offcuts usually rounds things out — often a 10 or 15 yard is enough by this point.

Scheduling swap-outs

The standard arrangement for an active build is a scheduled swap: a fresh container arrives as the full one leaves, keeping the crew working without a gap. Tell us your build schedule when you book the first container and we can set up a recurring swap cadence around it rather than have you call fresh each time.

Before any digging or grading starts, call Miss Utility of Maryland (811) to have underground utility lines marked — standard practice on every job site we deliver to.
